IS THIS AN ENGINEER'S CHOICE????
ReWiNd.........some date of 2005 MAY...my scintillating 10th class result was declared..,i immersed myself into the world of NON MEDICAL SUBJECTS as majority of smiling faces that day did.....even without a reconsideration i declared myself as the next engineer and the succesor for keeping the gr8 honour of SHARMA clan glowing..but yes something inside of me didn't want me to do..
Nevertheless it took me 2 yrs and a slamming 12th class percentage to understand that phy chem were not the areas for me..i always performed abv avg in maths but 2 yrs of struggle with science screwed that as well...
First day of college ....a place that was suppose to extract enginneers out of loosers...what a sight that was...couldnt believe colleges like these did exist...till now we had spend our time cursing our managment,,teachers,,university admin,,education minister of india n evrybdy involved in setting up of our odious infrastructure..and some way we were not to be blamed for that...
In india...u hve a bare piece of land n there it is u hve ur own engineering college..no infra,,lack of applied curriculum,,no exposure to growing industry yet we r proud to be an enggineer..A place that is suppose to produce techicians is serving more of as a temple for muggers. It took us another 1 yr to understand that the scenerio remains unique throughout INDIA only to name a few as xceptions...
One morning a leading local newspaper told about a placement drive in a near by leading engg college from the same university....90 percnt was the success grade of college that hosted...unfortunately the story was not the same...the 90 prcnt grade eventually dropped to 50 at time of issuing call letters and evn to 20, post some months of joining on basis of performance or whtever...and no newspaper told abt this...and that still makes engineering a worshipping career option in india.
Computers being my area....i could solve a query in my training classes more efficiently than my fellow from a popular college nearby that had denied me the admission 2 years back...it sulked me down..i was not at his place merely because i didnt do well in my phy n chem in my 12th...i cursed the system again..i mean,,hw come they plan to produce computers engineers on basis of how badly one screwed his science subjects in 12th..since then i strongly believe computer science should be made a compulsary subject in 12th for those who wish to pursue the stream in thier graduation...Similar other instances like these keep sulking us down...our colleges that dont evn guarrantee wether we'll end up as professional engineers...,,increasing no of our fellows pursuing engg from thousands to lakhs n more,,a university that keeps giving away supplies like candies with pride..mre than half semesters gone,,still striving badly for an all clear one in first stroke
The increasing density of colleges across length of our highways somehow serve many other purposes,,i mean they increase rural employement,,,a place that had never seen a computer system is now witnessing flowing no of cyber cafes because two engineering colleges exist nearby...but the arguement remains unanswered...when will these institutions produce engineers or inventions for the country???
over a lakh being declared as engg evry yr,,dnt knw if even half of thm bcme so..
... Last night you killed urself to a sound sleep after watching a sympathatic 3 idiots or a tare zameen par or wake up sid that succesfully convinced us that all is the system to be blamed n not we...we wont do anythng but we will curse ...we'll rather prefer tuning into "give me sme sun shine"" or break into repetative excuses that..' story of wake up sid is no indifferent from mines''.YES DATS one thing we do impeccably.....N IF STILL U call urself engineers following a disagreement wid my demuring blog just perform a self evaluation ...ask yourself to DEFINE ENGINEER..N COUNT THE NO OF TIMES U JUMP INTO A DICTIONARY to cram...

ReplyDeletelets put it this way... a bad beginning doesn,t always have a bad ending mate.
yes i support u on criticize the whole engineering format.its not great its all ina jeopardy, haphazared blaze. but think once for ur decision to join non medical stream. the theme of your analysis if set up b4 u took engineering as ur carrier would have been justified. but now u have. all engineers hate being engineers..partly bcoz of the reasons u mentioned and partly cuz it does kill ur life.
but the fact remains, u r an engineer. its up to you whether u be a worthy one or a lousy one.
at the end of the day when you walk of that damned system and college as an engineer there wont be a word expressing ur feelings.
its bright always, the future for that is human race thrives for. and that is where this race needs us. u r apart of a organisations called engineering that would never be talked by anyone, never get u a word of respect, satisfaction. but u have ur part in here and an important one. this society wont really give it up to u. but that is wat is an engineer- the hard life.-->>the life of a man.

Don't sound too pessimistic bro.You know , there was never a better time to be in India than now.Opportunities would be enormous for everyone in times to come.Regarding Engg. Colleges ,I am sure tht Quantity would be a prelude to Quality. So chill and sharpen ur axe before u step into ur professional life..........
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to crib and complain... try looking at the brighter side... every cloud has a silver lining they say... find yours!!!
ReplyDelete>>anonymous..yes it is easy to complain n dats what i meant in my concluding portion...
ReplyDelete>>varun,akshit..am not being pessimist..i knw the harm it causes to once outlook...i just can't take on formulation...
