''KITES'' doesn't soars...
There is a scene in KITES where disheartened Hritik cries out in the open desert..The act is so heartwarmingly performed that i couldn't help myself applauding the man for the class of skills he has attained..Sadly,this is the only impeccable moment as such in the film..Coming out of KITES i felt like a genius as i could predict the 2hrs show in the very first 15 min..
The story by Rakesh roshan is so tainted and boring that it makes the film sluggish at many times..i still can't make out what went wrong to genius filmaker ANurag basu's senses accept working on this..For me the music isn’t great..Don’t know why Rajesh roshan was forcefully made to use a monotonous yet hummable tone in the backround throughout in each and every scene..
Kites isn't a hard watch crediting all to director for creating some rememberable scenes such as the one where both the leads sit on a roof top of a vegas caper confessing their intentions of betraying their spouses, another scene where they make shadows out of hand gestures on a wall and equally enjoyable is a song with hritik's electrifying dance moves. But the most endearing scenes are given by ayankar bose(cinematographer) with his stunning captures of vegas towers glittering with colours at night...though he had limited to do at the mexican deserts still he manages to attempt some daring camera movements..
..Am happy because the film wasn't lenghty,2hrs is an easy watch..also it wasn't directed by rakesh roshan, else he would have messed up the entire show as he and his writers did with the story..
kites isn't a bad film but not a great watch either...the film won't give any joy at home on your computer screens..its a strict theatre watch..the film surely dissappoints because for me anurag basu's another film ''GANGSTER'' is the best indian film made in the last decade, and kites stays far from it.
Kites is all about looks, looks of foreign locations, fancy clothing, and even steaming bodies of HRITIK and BARBARA and unnecessary over blown action sequences reminding you of Rohit shetty’s films.. Unfortunately the time has gone when such attributes were enough to win over the audiences..Today Indian cinema too demands content..
Not going for further micro analysis I’ll recommend it for a tolerable watch, but preferable over HOUSEFULL anyday anytime..
